Located at an altitude of 1767 m, Mirik is an idyllic hill station, nestled in the serene hills of Darjeeling district in West Bengal. It is 55 kms from Siliguri and 49 kms from Darjeeling. One of the newest hill stations in India, Mirik is blessed with pleasant climate. Beautiful landscaped gardens, tea estates, orange and cardamom plantations, the tourism department cottages, boating facilities, easy accessibility etc. have made Mirik an attractive resort town. The hill station is blessed with some of the best tea gardens and Thurbo tea Estate, is the most famous among them, which is 2 km from Mirik. One can visit the factory, where the picked tea leaves are dried and processed into the form. But one should take prior permission from the manager. Mirik is the largest supplier of oranges in West Bengal and the famous Mirik Busty Orange Garden really a worth to visit. The hill station is also blessed with wild flowers, in delicate pinks and blues. Apart from enjoying the breathtaking scenic beauty of Mirik, one can also explore the trekking spots in Mirik. Trekking from Mirik to Sandakphu, Phalut and a short trek from Mirik to Kurseong via Balasan river and Namsu are the most famous trekking routes.
The beautiful 1.25 km. long lake is the most attractive spot of the Mirik Tourism Project. The depth of the lake water varies from a minimum of 3 ft. to maximum of 26 ft. The walks on the 3.5 km. long promenade around the lake is a fascinating one. The 80 ft. long arch-type overbridge across the lake is a wonderful engineering skill of the project. Arrangements of fishing in the lake is to be implemented soon. Boating facility is also available in the lake.

About two kilometers from Mirik, situated on the spur, one can seen beautiful orange orchards. Mirik is the largest supplier of orange in West Bengal. One can also have glimpse of the village life of hill areas.
